Price drops?

Will there be any price drops on the 5850's soon?

I'm planning on upgrading my pc but I'm waiting till the intel price drops in august. Will these cards drop by then? Or should i just by a card now and have it waiting in my room?

For sure they will drop when the refresh comes a long, no one knows an exact date for that yet though.

As is said a lot on these forums, there will always be another generation so unless you need it now wait, but you may be waiting for ever as there is always the prospect of a better card being cheaper in the future.

Ok but would it make sense to buy the XFX ATI Radeon HD 5850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card on this week only now? or wait till august? or does it not make a difference? 232 seems a very nice price for that card.

well already started getting bits and bobs. Just waiting for the intel price drops in August

Am personally waiting until I can get a couple of GTX 470s or 480s with water blocks for about £400 inc the lot. Second hand of course.

The prices of the card might come back to down the original RRP as the £ has been getting stronger against the $ recently but don't expect any big buts any time soon. The lack of competition and the way Nvidia is manufacturing and designing it's chips means AMD are under no pressure to cut prices and you can tell ATI are doing well since Fermi been out for while now and ATI haven't slashed their prices.
