i was going to get a XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 but the price has gone up by £20. so the feild is wide open again. wich 4890 would play crysis at max AND last the longest under £170? thanks

Any one of them I'd have thought. Expensive ones can fail after a short time and cheap ones can go on forever. I've seen posts where umpteen different brands have failed both expensive and budget orientated. Luck of the draw really.

1900X1200 resolution. i think im leaning towards the asus as it has a 3 year waranty but a reveiw says it can only handle crysis on gamer :(. despite it has the same speeds (8500 and 3900) as a card that can play it at full. im confused. ci dont know much about gpus. thanks for the help so far

What was the other card mate?

The asus comes with software so you can overclock the core up to 950MHz max and still be within the warranty. Very nice card indeed.

yep thanks m8 ;) you know, im begining to thank oc for the price raise. im getting a better card with a longer waranty, it apparently runs cooler and quieter. humm. silver lining and all that.

as long as you dont flash the cards bios i thought you could overclock all gpu's and still be in warranty as there is no evidence once the card is out of your system?

I find that situation odd to say the least. Asus has a faster core speed yet otherwise identical to the XFX versh so it should run a bit faster if anything. Got a link to the reviews mate?

just look on the reveiws people have given here.

heres the xfx

Best price for an ATI 4890 you'll find. I had a Sapphire ATI 4850 Toxic 512Mb which was really good to be honest but for the price you can't grumble. Expect higher frame rates in everything, I run Crysis at 1920x1080 all on high and get around 50fps. Quite chunky and takes two slots of space, slightly longer than my 4850, just got it in. I ordered on the 18th at lunch, received 19th morning, VERY FAST. Was missing a couple of connections again they posted straight away and got them morning of 20th. Great customer service. Thanks guys.

and the asus

this is my first major card that iv purchased, it has played pretty much all my games on full (with the acception of cryssi which is on gamer, but still looks good enough to make u cream yourself)

its still a good reveiw mind. but still. its still good enough to get. im just curious why it cant

So they weren't pukka reviews as it were from the various hardware sites on the internet, just ppl reporting what they'd found with their new hardware on here?

yeah. sorry for misleading wording. am i right in thinking it was probably another bottleneck? and ill have a look at some proper reveiws now. thanks

I've found in the past that ppl here have different systems, set ups, software, etc. You can only really compare vidcards when identical systems are used:) too many variables otherwise:).
