Price War?

Today I was looking around town for Pro Evo 6 on Xbox 360 and like many other have seen HMV are selling PES6 @ £37.95. On closer inspection of the games section I noticed practically ALL Xbox 360 games were priced @ £40 or less. I first noticed HMV were up to something last week when I saw Splinter Cell: DA priced @ £39.95

Could this be the beginning of a permanent price drop for all Xbox 360 titles everywhere including eventually Game, Gamestation and the like? Or is this just a christmas price war?

I'm hoping the former.

The Wii prices look lower than expected maybe its more to fend off that than reductions for christmas. If Wii games look to be £32.99 then they must edge the 360 prices down to atleast around £35????

That's a good point. But surely this would mean all shops would drop their price as it surely would have come from M$?

They aren't. I went to get dead rising from them on release and it was £49.99. Sure the majority of their 360 games are though. I'm talking more about the town/city centre shops.

Yeah but some still take the pee. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose a fiver over the next couple of months.

They are in the swindon branch....

Heres a tip from an ex-employee....... purple shirts price match amazon/dabs.com. They just dont let anyone know about it. Go in with a print off of the product et voila.

Well I dunno about high street price wars, but gamplay.co.uk has just started putting a few games up for 37.99 - including Gears of War and Call of Duty 3. Who knows. I'm hoping my GoW pre-order gets reduced too.

And yet game still charge the full 50 for a 360 game. I think I will use game for a 10 day rental service from now on. I will buy the game from a different store instead. 10 pounds extra per game adds up fast.

Shopto are selling for £36.99 or £37.99 so it seems they are sliding.

Game are changing their policy, so all new games will come sealed up, and you'll only be able to return them for a full refund if the seal is still on, or you can prove it doesn't work. Otherwise it'll just be a normal trade in.

Cant blame them really, too many people took the pee.

I think they will lose a lot of business that way, it's one of the only reasons I go there at all, they aren't exactly cheap and i've always seen full price games for £49.99.

but they do have good offers though, at least on PS2...

for example when Resi4 was £30 quid everywhere they did it for £19.99. similarly, with pro evo it was £19.99, and also Soul Calibre 3...

so when a game is NEW they do full price, after a month or so (when they have excess stock left) they dump em out cheap, you just have to be ready to wait and pay less..
