Hey all,

Recently bought an I5 760 and currently have it at 3.8ghz. I've noticed that when running tests in Prime that 1 core is 2 stages quicker than the others ~ it switches to, say, test 10 while the other 3 are still on test 8. These 3 switch to test 9 about 5 seconds later.

It 's been. a while since I used prime for stress testing, but I take it this isn't normal & I 'd be better returning the chip as it 's still within the 7 day dsr period ?

This is normally caused by other processes running at the same time as Prime, like Windows for example. :p

I thought it was normal..... iirc mine are usually working on different calculations if I come back to it after running for a few hours.

Windows does stuff in the background, so not all the resources can go towards prime95. Whichever core is running least OS related threads will complete the tests faster.

If it's normal then I'll stop being bothered by it then :) I have my doubts about this cpu, so that's probably what triggered my response in the first place.
