My system:

Mobo: BFG nVidia 680i SLI
CPU: E6600 Core Duo 2.4 (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro)
RAM: 4x1 Gig SLI OCZ 8500 (with cooling fans)
nVidia 8800gts 320mb GFX
650w decent power
Vista Premium

I've been having problems with temps ever since I built this machine. At stock the CPU temps were always around 40 idle, but didn't have much cooling in at the time. have added extra since then.

Had to RMA the RAM (just arrived back today) so all 4 are brand new (bought 2 extra while awaiting the RMA).

Have been trying my n00b OC and it has been running ok but haven't tried any games yet. But thought I would try the Prime95 test thing. on First attempt I had ticked the "Blend" test and after 4 minutes my PC froze. :(

Rebooted and tried the "Small FFTs" (which only ran for 3 or 4 minutes) and got the following (core temp and speedfan showing is after the test ended) :

I posted This thread about other problems, and info on the OC.

Not sure what this info means as I'm new to OC, should I try putting everything back on Auto/stock in BIOS and running the Prime95 again? I had Coretemp/Speedfan running during the test and CPU temp went to 64c, is that bad/average? My current OC temps are showing CPU at 53c. Pretty sure the HSF is seated correctly... didn't use any extra paste, just what was on it. Any ideas what my problem might be?

Any HELP much appreciated please!

yep that overclock is unstable as hell.

Go back to stock, make sure that can run prime small and blend fine to begin with then start off with your overclock again

Hi thanks for the reply. I reset the FSB back to stock and my voltages on Auto except the RAM which I just left at 2.1 - which made the auto put my CPU at 1.28. Booted up and tried to start core temp and it froze. I figured the cpu wasn't getting enough juice with me having 4gig ram in now (it work on auto like that b4) so increased the CPUv to 1.325 which I think is normally for the E6600 and am now running "blend" on Prime95 as I type, the core temps are going between 54 to 56... ahh it just stopped and says more or less the same thing as the screencap!?? Without any Overclock... so I have to find out what is failing, how do I do that? CPU wouldn't fail at 56c would it? GPU is now at 68c still, is that high?

I'll try memtest I guess now?

Hi, the CPU is a few years old but don't think its that, I may need to try reseating the HSF with new paste to get the temps down though. I did a memtest while I slept for just under 8 hours and it has come back with 540 errors on 8 passes... which is damn annoying because 2 of the RAM I just received from RMA and the other 2 I bought brand new (not from OCUK as they were out of stock...) while waiting for the RMA. So I'll now have to go through the sticks using memtest to find the bad one/two.:(

Oh, and I suspected it was the RAM because Prime95 on the "Blend" tests RAM more than other stuff, which is when my PC froze, but on the least testing of RAM function it gave back an error but at least didn't freeze up on me.
