Hey all could i ask for some advice please ive been looking to get a mini pc for our tv in the conservatory that we have moved from our bedroom. Due to buying a new tv and want soimething to play 1080p movies from HDD. Browse the web and load kodi ive been priced £279 from OC thats with windows 7. I was wondering if they be something cheaper for our needs. I Don't want linux as im not to familar with it

You could probably go cheaper if you were willing to buy a barebones nuc, a hdd/ssd, some memory and an os, and build it yourself, but not much to be fair.

Going linux however would save you a chunk of money; just for browsing and media you seriously shouldn't have any issues. And if you do, you can always just bang Windows on it after the fact. Id' recommend Mint, as it is very windows-like, and very user friendly, with a lot of online support.

For instance;

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Brix GB-BXBT-2807 Intel Celeron (Baytrail) DDR3 Barebones PC £104.99
1 x SanDisk X110 128GB SATA 6GB/s 2.5" Solid State Drive (SD6SB1M-128G-1022i) £37.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz SODIMM Kit (CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9) £29.99
Total : £182.57 (includes shipping : £8.00 Ex.VAT).

I believe that's the same base NUC OCUK have quoted for you, and the cheapest memory and 128gb SSD I could see. Just add your own flavor of OS and you're good to go. Plus you'd get free shipping on that, so knock 8 quid off :)

One thing to consider, it doesn't state if the NUC comes with a Power supply. I would presume it does, but maybe that's something you should ask customer service before ordering.
