Just wondering what your thoughts are regarding which rad to buy.

I've narrowed my choice down to either a Mayems havoc 480 or ek 420 xtc. I've got a 360 xt45 for the bottom and a 280 xt 45 for the front, if I can make it fit, so this is for the roof. I already have 2 noctua 140 mm fans so would only need 1 more for the 420, I'd need new fans for the 480. I'm sure either will be fine and the 420 would work out cheaper but people seem to not like them as much. What you think?

Not sure why popularity has an effect on your choice. I love my alphacools as they were exactly the rad I needed and cheap too!

im surprised the alpha cool rads aren't more popular. currently using 2 ut60 280mm and very pleased with them only other I would use is the xspc v3

i came across a few alphacool rads in the past. quality is shoddy. had one spout like a fountain out of the box. one had solder balls, and all of them discolored coolants.

i guess you get what you pay for.

between the mayhem havoc and the xspc i would go for the xspc. my personal preference, however, is the black ice nemesis rads great performance all across fan speeds.

they've gone down in price over in the states, don't know why prices in europe are still sky high.

alphacool rads are not the cheapest out there so I don't understand the you get what you pay for. I think its martins liquid labs that have a very comprehensive list of tested radiators & the ut60s performance is right up there with the best across a wide range of fan speeds

Still thinking about posting this here given the recent HWLabs/OcUK issues, but till then: http://www.overclock.net/t/1531984/user-review-of-the-hwlabs-black-ice-sr2/0_50

It's got the UT60 compared against 4 other really good rads. I have to say performance wise it is not bad at all, and the extra ports all help. But build quality remains a major let down- the rad smelled of paint out of the box and reeked for over 3 weeks. This is before the gunk inside which included multiple loose solder balls this time.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I chose to ignore it and went with my heart and bought the mayhems havoc. I received fantastic service so far from them and if the rad is the same quality I'll be very happy. Just need to strip everything out now to fit in the new case. :)

You will be happy for sure, it is a good rad and if you have use for the other items included then it is a great deal.
