Went on Friday Night.

I am a massive Prince fan and have seen him loads of times.

The Gig at O2 was, for want of a better word, CRAP!

The acoustics were terrible and Prince's voice was pretty much inaudible.

We waited at the aftershow (we got in at a quarter past midnight) until 3:45am and he never turned up!

Aftershow drinks prices?............... 2 X Vodka & Redbull....£11.50.
Entry Price £25 (X 2)

I've never been so Peed off in my entire life.

Really muffled mate - the sound desk staff were clearly rubbish then if the acoustics were ok for your Bon Jovi gig.

I've been to the O2 twice now and was impressed by the sound both times
I have heard others complain so I guess it is down to the individual artists/groups sound team that they have with them.

I've read elsewhere that it depends on where you were. The top of the upper tier only has one speaker pointed at them, and on the floor (vip or equivalent) it's almost as bad.

I was lower tier on the opening night (Wednesday) and it was fine. Prince appeared at the aftershow, but only after waiting until 2am and he was on for twenty minutes, tops.

I tried to get a drink at the bar, but the crowd was too much so I gave up. I'm glad I did at those prices!! I'm back twice more so I'll bring my own booze..lol

lol, I was in the top tier the first time and standing the second.

the first was for Bon Jovi and there were loads of speakers
but then again, the crowd was wild that night - all those housewives!!!

the second time was for the scissor sisters and I did notice a lot less speakers higher up, but the sound in the standing area was good.

I guess the acts own sound crew decide what speakers to bring and the setup - it's not a standard setup supplied by the venue.

Did the OP get his new album free just for going? I think that was a nice gesture, why can't more artists do that. Also, is there a wetherspoons inside the o2 arena?

I know nothing about Prince, and not a lot about the O2 arena, but those drinks prices aren't really much more than you'd pay in a club. Vodka red bulls arent the cheapest of drinks...

There about the same as festival prices which I find are also very close to what you would expect to pay in london.

I think there's two things to learn from this experience.

1. Don't go to see ****-poor gigs.
2. Don't drink Vodka Red Bulls, because wherever you go they are always ridiculously overpriced for what they are.

I went on Saturday, really angry about the sound quality too. We were on the top tier and couldn't make out his songs until the crowd joined in

Best way i can describe it is like listening to music that your neighbours are playing, just really bassy with no mid range or treble, gutted.

We did get the album when we produced our tickets to get in but haven't listened to it yet, not sure if i will tbh.

:o Hope my experiance is different on the 17th! - Front 4 rows of lower tier...block 110 :)

Sound should be fine there shouldn't it ? :o
