Hi all.

My trusty R200 is becoming more of a pain each time we use it for printing photos. We print quite frequently, photos only (I have a mono laser for all else) so that's what I'm looking for from a new printer.

Not fussed whether it's an All in One or single function as I have a decent scanner (Canonscan LiDE 60) which I think is better than the built in scanners in the AiO printers. I suppose single functions are more compact though.

It would be nice to have network connectivity, wireless or otherwise. Wireless would be more flexible, but not essential.

I've looked at Canon models, Epson (the R200 has been very good till now) and HPs and I think the Canons are "winning" so far.

Main concerns:

  • Around £100 to spend
  • Good quality photo prints upto A4
  • Reasonable running costs - either cheaper 'official' (£20 a set isn't bad IMO) or good compatibles
  • Network connectivity
  • Black casing would be nice
Hope you can help with any recommendations.

Have you tried looking at the Kodak range of printers? They have cheap cartridge refills too. I'm sure you can get something less than £100 from google.

I looked at the Kodak site, but I was unimpressed with their range. A lot of the Canon and Epson printers use individual inks (and have good compatibles) which is a bonus.

Hi, my Canon ip4300 is just over 2 years old, have used compatible inks as soon as the Canon ones were used up, it still prints like new and do mainly colour prints which l.v done quite a lot as well as documents + it does discs as well and they are spot on.

Canon you can't go wrong, com-inks cost about £5 a full set ready chipped, compared to Canon a full set is about £40, you get your money back for what you paid out for your Canon in no time. :)
