I'm picking up a new printer tomorrow from ********* but they want to charge me £10 TEN QUID ! for a usb 2.0 cable.

I found a spare usb 2.0 modem cable that looks pretty much exactly the same.

Are they the same thing ? will it work ?

Even so, I would be fairly sure the correct USB lead will be in the box surely? Unless you are buying it unboxed?
Well thats what I thought but when you choose the collect at store option on the website it bundles in this 10 quid cable with every printer , saying youll need one to connect it.
You have to manually remove it from your cart.

Printers have very, very rarely come packaged with a data cable from the manufacturers.

As has already been said, it's a Standard USB A to B cable, the same as scanners, external hard drives, modems etc tend to use.

Cheers , but the "looks the same is the same" comment didn't exactly fill me with confidence.
But now I know.

most USB printer cables are just standard USB A to B cables so if youve got a spare one lieng around its worth a shot at trying it before spending 10quid on a bloody cable lol
Yeah , I don't know how they can justify it. I'd want one made out of snakeskin with solid gold connectors for that price. I've found them on a well known auction site for 99p

(normal ones not snakeskin)
