What do I need to hook up a HP Laserjet 2100tn? A cast off from my GF's office but needs cables

I did search the Hewlett Packard site, and amongst many accessories, mention of cables appear to indicate "IEEE 1284-compliant, large printer connector (type B) to Standard PC connector" - though far from sure this is what I need.

Exploring the device ittself turned up two sockets hidden behind a removable panel - one large broad slot (certainly not USB) and a networking device with a socket for what appears to be a telephone/network type jack. It also appears to have an infrared port.

I've just connected the printer to the onboard networking socket on my PC mobo - doesnt appear to be seeing it though.

Under network connections I've enabled the 1394 connection - anything else I need to do?

I know next to nothing about networking, it has to be said

Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

Thank you

Sols

That cable on the HP site is exactly what you need. IEEE 1284 is more often known a parrallel. It will connect to the 25 pin parrallel connector on you motherboard. If you don't have one you can get cables with a USB connector one end and parrallel on the other.

That'll be much easier then connecting it via the network port.
