Hi there,

I have a Canon ip1500 and when i try to print say a page with text, it only prints out the colored text and no black text. Where the black text should be there is just faint lines. I have tried replacing the ink cartridges, but what else can i do?

Is the printer just borked?

Have tried that many times, no avail. The black print head must be clogged or something, is it possible to take it out and how do i clean it?

In some cases you can remove the print head and use isopropyl alcohol (used it on and Epson printer) and this will disolve any clogged up ink, search on google to find out if your print head can be removed (if its out of waranty). In most cases it is caused by using cheap non genuine ink cartridges.

I have had this same problem.

Changing the USB port the printer is connected to seems to work for a while and then it stops printing black and the photo images appear strange.

Currently rebuilding the pc to see if this resolves it...

I've just removed the printer head and cleaned it with some timclean(lol), hot water and a bit of spirit, lots of black ink came out but still got the same problem :(
