we have a 2008 server that shares a printer that approx 100 users access (mix of W7 and XP).
whenever an admin (i.e. IT user) on a W7 box goes into the printer properties of this printer, even if they make no changes and/or cancel out, all of the W7 clients are then prompted "Driver Update Needed" at which point we need to go around and enter admin details. which is a pain.
XP users are unaffected so I can only imaging that somehow the W7 machines are causing the 2008 driver to update? we use WSUS so no drivers are updated on the W7 admin machines that would cause any sort of auto update.
has anyone seen this at all? how can we stop this from occuring, its driving us mad.
