hi
i linked another pc to my router to share the internet.that is working fine but i wanted to also share a printer.the printer will be hooked to the pc i added to my router.when i look in network places and check for computers neat me all i can see is myself, and not the other pc.How would i go about sharing a printer?

Have you gone into Control Panels/Printers then right click on the printer then Properties/Sharing? Also, I think at some point when you run the Network setup wizzard it asks if you want to turn file and print sharing on.

EDIT: If it's not even finding the other PC then make sure the Windows firewall is off on both PC's (or on but with LAN selected in exceptions...) and then run the network wizzard again.

Are you both in the same workgroup? (Right click My Computer, choose properties, then the Copmuter Name page)

Have you made sure the firewalls "trust" the local network or at least the other PC's IP Address?

Try connecting by using the machine name. If it is called "computer" then type "\\computer" into the Run... prompt. This should then bring up the other PC and it's shared resources.

Yes firstly you need to be able to see both pc's on both machines before you try and get to share the printer.

Any chance your printer as LAN capability so you can plug it directly into your router to save a lot of hassle?
