Printer - wireless and cabled at same time ?

Hi

sounds mad but can a computer (laptop in my case)
be connected by wireless to a suitable printer but if the link
has a problem can they then use the usb link instead ?

guess the printer software is an issue in this

dont have a specific printer in mind just some basic office type
one such as HP or Epson

so definitely on the same machine ?

on my HP printer software you have to pick wireless or normal on
installation but i've not tried to do both on the same machine
