Afternoon all, my parents have decided to buy a new printer and as i dont have a clue when it comes to printers i thought i would ask you guys.

What they are looking for:
The printer will mostly be used for printing photos, on single sheet A4 and multi sheets for large photos. The old printer had a horrible habit of getting the tones and brightness settings wrong and would print lighter and darker shades on every other page. So the new one would have to be capable of not doing this annoying habit and print even tones and brightness on multi page prints.

Needs to have wireless network capability.

A good scanner built in, old one is terrible at scanning clear sharp image, even when the glass is clean and scan resolution is set to max.

They have a budget of around £150 being slightly over would be fine.

thanks in advance for the help will check back later :)

I have the HP Officejet 7500A, fantastic all in one printer. Depending where you buy it from I think you can get it under the £150 mark.

I have an Epson wf7515 A3 all in one, fantastic printer and it maybe better for your parents to print larger scale!

thanks for the suggestions, i have looked the first 2 up and some of the reviews arnt to good on the quality of photo prints. Can you guys/girls tell me what the prints are like on your machine please.

Eashton, how would you rate the prints on yours? as the Epson wf7515 A3 is on offer at a well known supermarket near me :D

thanks for the help so far peeps :D

Prints look perfectly fine to me

Has anyone had experience of using it? Looks a good system with good reviews and one company offer a 12 month warranty!

you can usually find a video on youtube on how to fit a ciss for your printer.

some printers have covers over the ink bay and need careful removal (our epson px660 had this)

wear gloves when you fit it, you usually have to pull out a rubber plug and fit a one way valve. made this mistake the first time and had ink on my hands for a week.

some ink cartridges have chips to stop 3rd party inks, the ciss should have these built in, they have a button you need to hold down for 10 seconds before the printer will recognise them.

you can find them quite cheap on a certain online auction site.

HP printers are always good

Not true, their software I've found is pretty atrocious as well.
Our B209a doesn't print on 4x6 photo paper anymore ( reliably print anyway) it starts printing the photo onto it about 3-4 or up to 5cm 'into' the page, something wrong with the feed mechanism but no fix from HP and it's not even been heavily used for photo printing.

Loves losing it's wifi connection and dropping of the network as well.

But for £150ish I'm sure their higher up models might be better.

I'm interested in the CISS, does anyone have anymore information?

I have a CISS setup on my HP OfficeJet 6500, each reservoir holds about 100ml, I buy OCP ink in 1ltr bottles, which has a shelf life two years.

Also have CISS setup with a HP 6 colour printer, again used with OCP ink.

The HP CQ512B (C410) is a excellent multifuction printer, has a excellent scanner, wifi, usb, ethernet, card reader, duplex & a fax, plus many other features.
I bought mine off a well known auction site, brand new & at a good price, superb kit, can't fault it..

Thanks for all the suggestions, i am cautious when it comes to HP printers, i have known a few people who have had problems with them, the Epson wf7515 is still the most likely due to it taking A3 size paper and my parents are very keen on it due the prints being good and the size of paper it can take.

The Epson wf7515 really is a great printer, I went for it over the HP version after having only HP for years, the Epson is also newer than the HP equivalent!

I watched a video on a CISS website on how to fit and it does look simple enough, I'm due some ink anyway and for an extra £10 on xl cartridges I can install the system and give it a go! Plus the website I've looked at offer a 20% off life long discount if you write a review!
