A mate has an Indian restaurant ( he's Chinese ;) )

He wants something to store addresses and contact details on for deliveries as often the folks taking orders mess up if they have to take lots of info

all he needs is a program to store/search and something to print address labels to stick on the bags

space is a big issue so I suggested a netbook

I have some free s/w from web which seems to do the store/search fine

I am looking for a label printer which is simple to use and will format correct with most s/w

any ideas ?

Does it support Dymo Labelwriters?
I use one daily, and they are faultless. Labels can be bought on t'web for roughly £1 per roll of 260 labels (Compatibles). I usually buy 20 rolls at a time. They are thermal labels, so nothing else is needed! Better footprint than a printer.

does what support it ? the software ?

it is called E-Z contact book but I suppose I could get something else if needed

What happens to a thermal label if you attach it to a hot takeaway?

Also, would storing names and addresses in the way described require compliance with the Data Protection Act?

Mmm not thought of that ( says the bloke who works for the biggest printer manufacturer in the world :p ) seem to remember seeing some labels that turn brown with heat though

Checked re the heat thing and this is not an issue as the label goes on a piece of paper on outside of a hard box

still struggling with s/w and printer compatibilty
