Printing help.

Hi.. ok this is quite a question i have.

My dad has a Windows XP Pc in the lounge, it is connected to a printer via a usb cable. his pc is also connected to a router via a ethernet cable.

i also have a pc in my room which is also windows xp, connected to the router through a ethernet cable.

is there any software that would allow me to print through my dads computer (provided its on, obviously) from mine going through the router? or is it impossible? i tried bonjour for windows but that is for a printer connected through an ethernet cable.

any help appreciated. thanks guys.

Have you tried File and Printer sharing?

That said, I think you need to connect the printer directly to the router for you to be able to see it. That way at least you could print even if your Dad's PC isn't on.

just share the printer on the host pc then check workgroup firewalls etc

You could get a wireless one. Would mean you can print from a laptop if you have one/might get one in the near future.

This is the one I want.
