Howzit guys.

Just wanting to know how easy it is to install a new printer on Linux (Ubuntu) like a Lexmark or HP all in one type of thing?

Thanks!

Well mine was easy.

Really truly plug & play.

HP BTW
Same here. Plugged it in and switched it on... nothing else required. Windows, however, requires loads of drivers being installed and for some reason XP doesn't like the version on the CD that came with the printer.

Mine's an Epson RX420 thingy, btw.

Iv only seen it twice, well once on my hp printer in Gentoo and once with the same printer on my mates mac book pro with 10.4

Basically it is possible but i sound it pretty interesting to get working, though i was using gentoo on my pants uni laptop

Same.. plug in, switch on.

ubuntu found a Canon ip5300.. would you like ubuntu to install a driver... "might be a good idea" ----> clicky

Ooo look.. it works.

:-)

Do a bit of research first as some printers work but others don't. HP apparantly are usually ok as I think hp produces linux drivers. Epson sometimes work, my r200 works fine for docs but photo quality is awful - I always boot into XP to print a photo. Canon and lexmark are pretty afaik.
