Has anyone had any luck sending something to an OKI printer without updated drivers (or any other come to that) using Lion? All the drivers are now defunct for Lion. None officially available until mid December! Do I *really* have to buy a new printer?! I can't even get a generic one to work. Anyone know of any simplish solution, even if it's just black and white plain text being output? Thanks!!!

I got around this by using a Linux server.

You can install AirPrint on Linux. Lion and iOS can now print to the printer without using drivers. Works well.

No other choice if you cant find a driver for your printer.

Also try printing as a generic postscript printer.

fantastic - will be looking into this later tonight, may get back to you. Thanks ever so much for the tip off!!

Edit: while it's a neat solution, sadly I don't have a spare box around to run Linux off. I do have a laptop running Snow Leopard with working print drivers though, I wonder if I could print through that the same way?

Share the printer on the snow leopard box. The lion machine will be able to print over the network. :)

If anyone else reads this before OKI release the Lion Drivers (rumoured to be mid December 2011). I have found that you can print via a Windows machine by using google's cloud print!
