If a website supports SSL encryption are you safe from system administrators (say you're at work, university, school etc) from seeing what you are looking at or searching for. Likewise, say iTunes supported SSL. Would that mean it'd be impossible for them to intercept what you are downloading?

They could intercept it, but i don't think they could decrypt it, i'm not too sure how ssl works against man in the middle attacks, i think there may be some sort of checksum protection against this. It would probably be illegal for them to even try to decrpyt it anyway.

They can see every IP/address you visit or communicate with including the URL's if browsing, they just can't see the actual data you submit and receive.
