Private plate - selling

My current car came along with a private plate, it's valued at anything from £200-£600 across the top 5 results on google for plate resellers.

As the retention is only £80 for 10 years, thinking of getting it removed onto a V778 and leaving it for sale, I figure at some point someone will take it and #profit - even at the low end, it's close to £100 for little work. (after I factor in new plates)

Question is, where's the best place to put it up for sale, all sites claim to have the best exposure but as I understand, I can't cross advertise as there is a chance, however small it could sell on two sites at once.

Are you sure it's actually worth anything? You can buy them direct from £250 including the transfer fee.
Honestly, not sure but worth a punt - maybe.

What prompted it was a british/indian girl I know mentioned the final 3 letters, KSG are in common use as initials in the indian community and suggested I might get something for it - added on to the fact that the 3 preceding numbers are all the same for uniformity (sp?)

Some brief checks on number plate resellers returned quotes between £200 and £600.

Suspect you'd be waiting a long time for a buyer to crop up for your specific plate, loads of 2 digit KSG prefix plates on DVLA, loads of 3 digit KSG prefix plates too, including a good few 111, 123, 999 types etc.

If one of those sites would actually pay you money for it, might be worth just punting it off to them

Cheers, will just leave it situated then.

Seem really good, just purchased a private plate to match my existing, paid probably way over the top but it’s the only relevant one I could find to match existing.

I’d list with them, ask what they think its worth and go from there.

For reference I’ve got E13 MRK (£799 from DVLA in 2007) and just paid £2000 for A13 MRK.

You might find someone who wants exactly what you’ve got because it’s relevant to them and will pay more, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay at the end of the day!
