Phoned the DVLA spoke to a girl and to be honest cant really understand what shes telling me she wasnt making sence.

Basically we are buying a new car privately.

The registered owner fills in sections 6 (new keeper details) etc etc and sends of section 1-8 to the DVLA.

We receive section 10 from him (new keeper supplement).

==============================

Now we have a private reg on our old car, which we want on the new car asap. So we can sell on the old car asap with the old reg number.

Spoke to the girl on the phone.

She said to send off

-V317 (ok fine)
-2 log books for both cars ( yeah ok but i cant do that because the registered owner is going to be sending his off to change driver details)
- 2 mot certs (ok fine)
- £80 (ok)
- serial no. and exp dates of tax disc (ok)
- Send to local dvla office which is cardiff (ok but how am i suppose to do that if he is sending his part to the swansea office)

Can someone please clarify the above as i really cant get any sense out of the dvla cant be bothered to help. Anyone done the above. Really need to sort this out now soon as we suppose to be picking the car up tomorrow,

Thanks

Dean

To do a transfer like that both cars have to be registered in your name, in this case they aren't so it won't work.

You need to put the plate on retention from your old car, then wait until the new car is registered in your own name and then transfer the plate on to it.
