Private Reg Transfer Q

So Mrs Resident bought me a private registration for Christmas.

I have all the paperwork here and I've never had one before

Now my insurance renews on 05/01/26 and I've spoken with them and I can either transfer the reg now and pay £35 admin fee to amend my current policy (and update the upcoming policy) or just update my new policy, within the cooling period for free, but this would mean delaying transfer of the plate

Is it possible for me to begin the transfer and select a specific date for it to transfer or is it a case of as soon as I hit submit (online) it starts and transfers as soon as possible?

When I did mine online it was instant I don’t remember seeing an option to delay but I might have just missed it.

As long as you do it between 7am and 7pm - the DVLA website will do the transfer instantly.
I would just wait until the day you want to apply the plate and punch it through DVLA then
