Most probably. And a kicker in the Tour of California too, Pete Kennaugh out with a suspected broken collarbone.

Thing is: With the GC in the Tour, it can be hard to have a plan B. Sky get criticised for a lack of a plan, but if your leader can't continue and you've put in effort to keep him up in GC, it can be hard to recover.

Some of the comments are hilarious on Cycling Weekly: people saying they are a waste of space at the Giro and to replace them. Some people have no clue.
 
Great stage yesterday. Looking forward to the weekend stages! Surprised Amadour didn't take more time. Just please please anybody but Nibali or Valverde.

Todays stage could pretty much go anyway between a decent break making it, reduced or bunch sprint depdning on how they play it on the front and how the sprint guys do over the lumps before the end. This is an Ullisi type of day.

What a days racing that was! Great rides from top 4! Devastated for atapuma but delighted for kruiswijk! Hopefully he's git some legs left for tomorrow! Glad to see valverde dropped!
 
So enjoyable seeing nibali in freefall! Good rides by top 2 and valverde (Eugh). The last week is going to be nothing held back for Astana and movistar!
 
Any time you beat the likes of Valverde in a hilly TT the bull**** detector goes off, especially if you're from a second tier Russian team! Maybe Rusevelo were targeting the stage but regardless their performance was off the charts.
