Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

Always find TT stages pretty dull. Caught the last 20 mins so no need to bother with the highlights on itv4!

Yep, very dull to watch unless it's a ttt in the wet. Highlights are not easier not In real time.

Tbh no real surprises for me today. Predicted Dumoulin win, froome to be nearest and mollema to do alright. Porte was a real disappointment his improvement in tt didn't show or he was just too fatigued from yesterday and couldn't hold the watts he thought he could.

Looking forward to Sunday! Gonna be a delayed watch as parents over for lunch.

Sounded like Porte and or BMC just didn't plan his ride in any way. Went out the box super hard, not taking into account the course and when the weather would really affect him seemingly.

Amazing, now just four away from drawing with Merckx. I wonder if he'll call it quits now or if he'll aim for another win on the Champs-Elysees - with Rio coming up the smart option might be to pull out now but it would be great to see him winning in Paris again.

Highlights of yesterday's stage:

A look at today's mountain stage:

and the coming week:

TODAY
Stage 15 (Bourg-en-Bresse to Culoz)
A tough climbing stage through the Jura mountains. Chris Froome will have to be wary of any breaks

TOMORROW
Stage 16 Moirans-en-Montage to Bern)
A reasonably flat route through Switzerland which may favour the sprinters

TUESDAY
Rest day

WEDNESDAY
Stage 17 (Bern to Finhaut-Emosson)
The second half includes three tough climbs and a summit finish

THURSDAY
Stage 18 (Sallanches to Megeve)
A tough 17km time trial of which 11km are uphill. This is a stage that is likely to suit Froome with his excellent time trialling ability

FRIDAY
Stage 19 (Albertville to Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc)
This is a Tour route built for the climbers and there is no let up here with four more ascents on the 146km ride

SATURDAY
Stage 20 (Megeve to Morzine)
D-Day. This is where to Tour will be won or lost with four demanding climbs on the penultimate stage and then a steep descent into Megeve. A tough end to the Tour

SUNDAY
Stage 21 (Chantilly to Paris)
The traditional ride through the streets of Paris with a sprint finish on the Champs-Elysees

Saw boardman had to fly back but didn't realise what for. His mother has been killed in a cycling accident. Possibly hit and run reading between the lines. Sad to hear.

Today as expected wasn't much in gc due to the week to come. I love seeing the laces tho. Alaphillipe proper unlucky. Great ride from him. Hopefully another cav win tomorrow!
