presumably all of the riders rec'ied the course before hand? surely if they thought it was dangerous they would have said something before.

boardman does my nut too, moaning about safety. yet i clearly heard him saying what an excellent course it was throughout the racing.
 
was there any analysis of the many mechanical problems the men had near the cobbles, the slow motion pictures showed a lot of chain slop, so I wondered if trying to maintain both low and high gear capability they had undue amount of chain to be taken up by the rear mech arm ?

Also a pity they did not show ride profile with the regular tdf graphics - or was that available elsewhere ?
 
Got an eye on the Rio TT currently and I did wonder this during the TdF, what happens with regards to bike changes from mechanicals & punctures?

Just seen one athlete has had to change so presumably you just take it on the chin so to speak? much like with any other race or stage?
