Pro Cycling Discussion 2017

Michele Scarponi has been killed in a crash whilst training near his home. Collision with a van... Going well by early season results and coming to the end of his career. Always a shame.

Anyone suspicious of AVs performances? He's been absolutely flying, dropping people on the climbs big time in the Spanish stage races etc at nearly 37. He's had a hell of a season so far.

Terrible tragedy. Leaves behind a wife and two children.
Yup utterly shocked to hear it.

Some small consolation - he finished Tour of the Alps and flew home to spend some brief time with his family for a night/day before heading to a training camp, rather than fly directly to the training camp.

Killed on a recovery ride, very close to home with some friends and his wife was able to rush to the location spending his last minutes by his side. :(

Tragic news about Scarponi. I suppose it's at least a couple of weeks since a notable cyclist was avoidably killed by a motorist so maybe we were due for one. Such a waste. :(

A non repentent doper dominates - yeah I just love that, even if he is now just on the mineral water

Pas normal.

Even if he is "clean" these days it's highly likely that years of PED abuse have hardly disadvantaged him versus his competitors. He cruised over the line vs Martin. Very hard to get behind him.

Hoping to see some attacks on the "cote de" some-hill-in-yawkshire.

Sky actually has a hell of a strong team as well as Lotto NL and Orica. Bouhanni is there, hopefully someone skelps him in the jaw.
Super suicide breakaways full of UK team sacrificial lambs. Every stage. Because on telly.

All I care about is an attack from the man, Tommy V!! Love him - love the crazy style he has. Hope he goes well. He will attack somewhere for sure!
Haha yeah, he's good fun for TV! :D

Quite a lineup really - ABS, JLT, Bike Channel, Madison Gen & One Pro all with strong teams. So many ex NFTO riders too *sob* ;)

I'm hoping Fraser Martin on Team Raleigh GAC does well.

....just because I can say that I've raced against him :p

Is that you 3rd wheel? Shave next time = more aero! ;)

A local rider (Andy Turner) used to race for Raleigh GAC, before moving to KTM-Impsport for 2016 and now VC Equipe. I'm sure one day he'll get on TV! ;)

Yup very strong, actually impressed with Sky's to be fair. I imagine with that team they're in it to win it with a British rider?!

Watching end of today's stage reminded me of one of the grimmer days I've ever had in the saddle in 2014.

Good enough finish, tomorrows stage should be good.

Was talking to mate of mine and said about opie having great day yesterday as he used to be his training partner. Said he'll have to dig out some photos of him beating him in a sprint few years back
