Pro Cycling Discussion 2020

I'm ignoring the entire race being about those pair.
Classy win from Mads.
Absolute cracker of a race to watch.
This is why Belgian one days are the absolute best. Seeing the bog boys just tear into one another in the pishing rain.

Absolutely ridiculous from them both, but what a ride by Mads! Glad to see him winning some after getting to spend so little time in the WC jersey. Mitchelton Scott pulled out of Giro after 4 positives as well as Kruijwick. Wonder if even the Giro will finish!

What an incredible ride that was by the winner today in the giro! And what absolutely grim weather. Some big losses in the gc for fuglsang, pozzovivo rode amazingly to get back on with his team looking to do everything they could to do the slowest wheel change ever.

Have you seen Pozzovivo's position on his bike since his big accident? He looks all twisted with one shoulder up and the other pointing down. I'd read he had a really nasty crash but didn't realise the after effects on him and despite all that hes still riding very well.

I noticed it during the race the other day but this pic shows it quite well https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/co...-and-fuglsang-after-giro-ditalia-mechanicals/

Cor I hadn't noticed that. His position has always been quite odd being flung so far forward. He must have a really short torso even for a little guy. I'm rooting for him now. Proper underdog.

Yeah that made me chuckle when I read it , gotta love TdG. Although there will always be the 'race to win at all times' brigade out there , I find it curiously malevolent and mischievously delightful
He's always been a great follow/watch/read as comes across as this really humble and quiet guy... But with a great sense of humour (track him down on Twitter in the off season), then other times really speaks his mind and isn't afraid of honestly doing so.

Yates out of giro with cv and roubaix cancelled. Wonder how much longer we'll get racing for. Vuelta going to be cancelled with the way Spain is currently.
The way things are going I'm not going to be surprised if the Giro doesn't finish. #sadpanda

I'd heard about his accident but not just how bad it was! Now I've seen that picture I can't not see his position even worse than recalling before! :o

Not quite sure what the position of his shoulder is about, he broke his collarbone but it looks more than that? The reports you read, his injuries where all limbs (why is left arm has always been covered since), but maybe the injuries from the couple of crashes are just leading to that awkward positition. Horrible for him the things he's been through, just hope it's not permanent and the amazing form he has, he can revisit/revive in future with more luck and opportunities.

Eugh that crash at schelderprijs was horrible. Good win by caleb though. Made it look easy.
Do we know how long races stay on the GCN Racepass app? I'm enjoying the Giro but getting slowly behind as unable to watch 'highlights' so having to just skip through stages to find the climbs and such to kinda make my own in the limited time I have to watch (<1 hour per night).

Just wondering if I skip a bunch of the middle Giro stages to watch some of the other races, like Schelder & LBL (although I'm now on Giro stage 7 so already passed a few I could have skipped!).

See Ackerman is 21st on results now so was relegated for it.
Should have been full on DQ. Relegating in results is no justice for the criminal things these sprinters have been doing like this.

What a race that was in the end. Didn't expect the Victor but just stronger when it mattered.

Alaphillipe horribly unlucky with the motorbike but rider safety once again rears its head.

Don’t have a great deal of sympathy for him really, the bike was hardly in the way and he rode into it. Robbed us of an even more exciting finale though, reckon he’d have put the other two on the backfoot on the climbs.

Gutted Ala smacked that bike as that would have been an even more amazing show down than those two giving it ding dong. Ala would have attacked them for sure.

No sympathy here either. He reaches to his radio and looks downward to talk into it. The moto was in the gutter and the other two avoided it. He simply was not looking ahead or paying enough attention and suffered the consequences.
He has demonstrated three times now in his rainbow jumper that he is really not very good at paying attention to what is going on around about him.....

Nah he did ride into it but why was it stopping/slowing so much at that point. Also the guys are knackered so lack of concentration is part and parcel at that point in the race.

Giro was great to watch yesterday. Proper slugging match. Almeida showing he can battle but its going to be a very hard last week for everyone.

Think a long time. All the tour stages are still there.
Thanks, really helps me - as I've just continued to watch the Giro. Almost getting caught up, just trying to ignore the other race chatter in here lol! :D

He's been pretty incredible, riding really well for a youngster and QS have been pretty phenominal about still 'doing their thing' on the front while still having Knox and (I think it is) Hodeg with him still in the mountains? Think Almedia rode for Axeon before but never really heard anything about him until the Giro. What else has he ridden with DQS?

@Roady nothing standout from him beyond U23 until now.
He took both U23 TT and RR champs in Portugal last year. He was also 1st on GC at Baby Giro 2018 and won U23 LBL 2018.

I had to look at his PCS page for anything beyond remembering those about him. He's done very well on Youth classifications on 1 week SR's over past few years.

He was 3rd on GC back in July at Burgos for DQS. I thought he was 2nd but looks like I was wrong.

It’s Masnada in the mountains - Hodeg is a sprinter (and quite decent too!). Almeida has shown such heart so far to keep battling but the last week is so stacked with climbing I hope he hasn’t gone into the red so many times that he pops and loses minutes. Kelderman is a good rider but he’s doing it the boring (and efficient) way

All grand tours should start with a mountainous day. Vuelta was fantastic today!

Giro was average but great ride by tratnik. Realised he was getting caught early and paced himself perfectly to have that super strong finish.
