Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

Having thought about it a bit more I think it will be more of a reduced sprint today. So therefore i'm going for Kristoff and Degenkolb to battle it out on the last straight

Ahh FFS Thomas just binned it. Gutted :(

Literally blown off the road by the wind. It's crazy.

Wow those were some hard men.

Well done Paolini a top effort cos he had to work so hard to get onto the front group on his own. Etixx must be having kittens , they just keep blowing it.

Mixture of exciting and just down right annoying watching those Etixx guys. Incredible race all in though, the conditions especially the wind completely battered those guys, every one of them will sleep like a log tonight haha.

Edit, I actually think Thomas is like the Etixx antichrist. That whole situation they created for themsevles was for fear of him 8k onwards, they were trying to commit him and fluffed it. But IMO even if he attacked and commited on the chase those Etixx guys would have been binned anyway as he is so strong right now. They just made a difficult situation even more difficult and that's them Thomas on the brain now, not good for that team!

I dunno, i think that's a bit of an oversimplification. Everyone in that group was suffering a lot, they tried a few moves but nothing stuck. Just the way of things really, i don't see it as bad riding. Sure, having two guys in the break can give you a tactical advantage, but because of that advantage you can bet everyone else in the group is watching them extra closely, making actually utilising that advantage very difficult.

Love a Paolini win - the beard alone is worth watching. Admittedly a slightly dodgy past though.

Can G hold his form for another 2 weeks?

If he rides as a domestique for Wiggins in Paris-Roubaix I'll be very disappointed. Stannard, Swift and G should be a match for anyone.

Any idea if Sky get 3 or 4 on the roster for 2015? I'd assume that being top ranked team and having the 1st and 2nd ranked riders they will get 4 spots.

Are you sure ? Why wouldnt it be a full team of 8 or 9 ? Cant remember them restricting it before , you wouldnt have many people in the race with 3/4 per team

See, the internet is a terrible place. When I was looking at start lists for 2014 before they were showing either 3 or 4 per team. I had a brain fart and thought it was like the world chaps where you are limited in numbers depending on your ranking.

Now the first result back from google shows 8. Clearly it's 8.

I'll go back under my rock now.

I didn't think there were any races where the number of riders were limited by trade team? It often happens when they are racing for their country.

Really have no idea though. The classics races usually split up so much that no team has more than 4-5 riders left anyway so it's hard to tell how many riders are on each team. Not like a big stage race where you see The whole team riding together.
