Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

Well Nibali only won the Tour last year because the two favourites crash out : Froome and Contador and Quintana wasn't in the race because he focused on the Giro.

I saw today's stage live until about 5 km to go, and then had to keep an eye on it on the bbc page on my phone. Great result for Steve Cummings and brilliant for MTN Qhubeka, what an achievement for a fledgling team like that. I can't wait to see the highlights later and catch the finale.

Froome takes a few more seconds as well, and Tejay drops behind Quintana. Maybe we are on for a clash in the Alps...

Great to see Cummings win today, tactical masterpiece on how to win a stage that!

Disgusting to hear the reports of urine being chucked at Sky. Although not the first time an englishman has been soaked :(

Seriously good finish by Cummings , where did he come from ? That'll enrage the French even more now with another Englishman winning.

Not impressed at all with the reports of urine being twrown and punches being landed on Sky team. I thought cycling was a more civilised supporters than say those ignorant football morons

Lolwut

Cycling fans have a pretty chequered history as it is, and just like football there are a minority of idiots with loud voices.

The French are having yet another awful tour. Yesterday encapsulated just how they have forgotten what it takes to win at their own race. Pinot and Bardet should never have lost that finish to a non-climber. I still get the impression that there is a culture within french cycling that rejects the scientific approaches now being adopted by the likes of Sky, Movistar and most others in favour of an outdated philosophy and rider mentaility. We saw it with how Pinot reacted to his bad luck in week one and again yesterday where the two of them wasted time at the top of the climb arguing about who would work. Meanwhile Cummings just gets his head down and goes for the win like it was life or death.

I am also convinced that this french failure again is partly responsible for the abhorrent behaviour of some of their "experts" and journalists which has served to encourage those idiots at the side of the road. Lets hope one of them tries something with G or Yogi because I reckon someone might get lamped if they do :)

As they said on the itv coverage, there can be millions of fans across the many miles of of a stage, and there's no cost or barrier to entry apart from the inconvenience of getting there, so you're bound to get one or two nobheads.

And yes, total lack of coordination from the two French guys and Cummings capitalised. They weren't ready for him and he just flew past. Agree about about Pinot as well - his paddy about having to borrow a bike contrasted with Tony Martin absolutely beasting it on someone else's bike.
