Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

Tinkoff Saxo have got a Facebook post up saying they're considering legal action against the motorbike rider who nailed Sagan.

Can't say I blame them, this year had been a joke with the number of riders taken out by support cars or bikes.

Can you imagine what would happen if the referee tripped Ronaldo when he was through on goal at the World Cup for example!

That stage was absolutely amazing.
The climb was brutal, the attacks were brutal and that was just great entertainment. Loved it.

Absolutely brutal final 4km, great riding by Dumoulin though to come out on top. Good attack by Froome, I'm going to need to work from home on Wednesday for that day in Andorra! Also think Froome will be completely happy with this, as he will be taking a huge chunk of time in theory out of his rivals on the TT, although will depend where Dumoulin fares over the next week as to how happy he could be.

Can Froome take time out of Dumoulin in a time trial do you think? All depends on endurance/fatigue i guess. After stage 11 we'll have a better idea how things are shaping up overall, what's possible for who. Still holding onto the hope for a top ten for Chaves, but whatever happens this has to have a huge impact on OGE's strategy next year. With Esteban, the Yateses, Juul-Jensen, Txurruka and Robert Power you think they have to be planning on going for a GT result. No doubt they have the performance, but do any of them yet have the endurance?

Stage 11 looks ridiculously hard.

I can see Froome coming out the blocks at full gas, same as he did in the tour. Aim for the red jersey and hold it till the end.

Just had a cracking day here in La Vella.

Saw them all come flying into town again after the first climb, then walked up the penultimate climb to cheer them on. Froome's knee had a fair gash in it and he was way way behind with geriant pulling him along. Great effort to finish where he did.

Now I need beers, many beers.

P.s. I want a Pinarello Dogma. Lots!!!!

Stage was just so brutal as Millar said, just nobody could attack! Fantastic ride from Dumoulin! I will be cheering him and Purito on from now. If Dumoulin keeps it up, he'll be very confident with the TT coming up. Just needs to keep Aru etc in sight in my opinion.

Be interesting to see if Froome carries on and goes for a few of the uphill finishes now the GC has gone.

Fantastic from Dumoulin! I am just struggling to comprehend how he came into this not expecting to be any contender for GC, not expecting to be capable like pure climbers on the climbs yet he is right up there. Surely pro's at this level know exactly where they are in terms of their competition from their training prior to these events? I just cannot wrap my head around arriving at a grand tour and after a week being surprised at where he is at. He doesn't even have a team supporting him on the climbs!

I am pretty certain Froome will withdraw, his body language on the bike was bad but seeing him simply trying to walk after the stage looked absolute agony, to the point where you really cannot see him overcoming something that painful and riding on now. Poor guy, looked such a silly little crash as well to cause all this for him :(

I think Aru may be a stupidly good shout right now overall in this.....
