What has this done? Seems to have done nothing that I can see, if anything made it slightly more laggy in game

From what i can gather, nothing.

Couple of SDTV fixes is what i read.

I can confirm it has 99% fixed slowdown in replays and general play on SDTV. There is still the very occasional brief hitches but by and large it is vastly superior to what it was before.

This is getting pathetic now. They have had months to fix something which shouldnt have gotten past bug testing stage. Too bothered about making as much money as possible and not bothering about the quality of the game. Spose id do the same to get maximum money if i was seabass.

Edit: Based on my own experience after having just played the game there,
1. Replays are sharper;
2. Replays run smoother;
3. Gameplay overall is a bit sharper.

However,
1. Online is still laggy;
2. Replays still not completely fixed;
3. Lack of detail at top/bottom of pitch;
4. Occassional lag in some places.

Haven't even loaded the game up since the day I brought it, by the sounds of it I wont bother for a while either!

I know one thing, the next PES that comes out will have to be VERY special for me to consider buying it!!

There have been a couple. I find online is playable but it still isn't 100% smooth all the time.

I very rarely play it now. Even though FIFA annoys me I might just sell PES as I can't see me playing it any time soon.

Is there anyway of getting this patch online using a pc, and then transferring it to my ps3 via mem-stick?

Don't think so, although I could be wrong. I think the only way to get it is through putting the game in and accepting the update request.
