Pro Evolution Soccer 2008: 360 or PS3

I bought a PS3 mag yesterday which had a 6 page spread on the game. The PS3 version looks pretty cool with the ability to face map yourself and the team you follow, put in the strips and badges etc.

The developer said there shouldnt be any difference in gameplay between the two, i guess it depends if the 360 has this ability too. You would expect it would since we have the live vision camera.
 
id like the inclusion of diving, but it appears that the article suggest that diving is easy for the computer to do, but impossible for the player.

FIFA 97 had a diving option if i remember correctly and it was great, you could dive and if the ref was in a bad position you could get the foul.

So can you take a picture of a club badge and set that as the logo in game? Does this work for kits as well. Did it mention whether these could be uploaded via memory stick or other storage devices?
 
Now, say I dived in the 92nd minute, won a penalty, scored and won the match against some random guy on Xbox Live... Do you think I'd get negative reputation?

Yup, of course you would. I'd give you a negative especially if you hadn't of used dive for the other 90 minutes of the game. It's just a dirty tactic and a cheap way to win a game, diving is NOT football. It's because of idiots like Drogba that this new feature has been placed in the game, last years season was terrible for diving.
 
The game itself is looking fantastic. More than just an HD-Pro Evo.

The diving... could be great, could be cack. We'll find out.
 
They should add a diving stat to each player, so you know you chances of getting away with it. Manu and chelsea players could have a 99% success rate and everyone else 5%. If they wanna make it realistic they have to get the stats right ;)
 
People will take any chance they can to take a dig at Drogba. He has improved a lot. His pain threshhold might not be so good but he doesn't dive anywhere near as much as he did in his first season.

As for the diving in game, I can see how it might be frustrating, but I think it is quite a good addition. Imagine if someone is 1 on 1, no defenders in sight, and their mate leans over and smashes both shoulder buttons forcing them to dive. Would be well funny.

One thing I really wanted to see was double footed tackles. Could be done by holding some button and then doing a sliding tackle. Plus I would like to have seen broken legs and stuff. Wow, i need help!!

It will also be interesting to see if rooneys injury stat has gone down much due to having balsa wood feet.

As for which version I would buy, probably the cheapest if I had both consoles. The differences wont be big enough to care about. I couldnt tell you one stadium from another on this version of evo.

I rarely look past the pitch, dont care about kits as long as say Everton have the names correct with the players and play in a blue kit thats all I care about.

I like the ease of xbox live and never having to worry about the headset running out of batteries, so the amount I play Evo I'd probably go 360.

Me too actually. From hundreds of games i've rarely had to sub anyone off through injury. Even in master league they rarely get injured and I can have a small squad because of it.
 
My mate seems to have mastered getting my players injured. He'll usually manage to get one of my players injured at least once every couple of games or so.

I have always said I will get one but with the stuff coming out this quater for the 360 I doubt I would turn it on. Might as well wait til after christmas and pick one up.

The other reason for holding back is when Buzz and singstar games are out the Mrs will want it and I can get her to pay half.:D

And what if you didn't dive and he actually caught you? Fair penalty yet he claims you dived, still negative feedback.
 
this whole diving thing is stupid. Konami showing yet again that they haven't the slightest idea how to spend the years development time they get :rolleyes:


i hope to god fifa is better this year
