Pro or Air?

I really can't decide. It will be my main and only machine which I will take with me everywhere and use it everywhere (on desk, watch a film in bed...etc...)

I like the looks and weight of the air which is really pulling me towards it. It also means that I won't have to buy a SSD too. I also like the backlit keyboard on the air which I don't think you have on the Pro.

But I look at the pro and its faster so I'm not so sure.

Has anyone been in my position - what did you do?

It really depends on what you'll use it for. Films, web browsing and word processing then get the air.

The odd game, image or video editing, rendering etc. then get the Pro.

I currently have an i3 350m, 8GB, 310m, SSD machine for my main machine and it does everything I am after fine.

I don't do video editing but I do play football manager and use photoshop. It will be my development machine too.

Like I said, the machine above does everything I want fine, so I am thinking the air should be fine right?

Absolutely, even the mid level 2557m (the 1.7ghz i5) is a good 25% faster than your i3 in most applications.

It may struggle a little with only 4gb of memory if you work on lots of large image files at once, but I doubt you'll notice too much.

I've had both a Air and Pro, for watching films and general usage I much preferred the Air, The new higher End air's are on par with fairly recent pro's performance wise so should be alright for ps and they are a tad cheaper than pro's.

Get the air :P

If your happy with the screen size and since they now have sandy bridge I would go with the air.

If you're using it at home getting an Networked HDD works well, I used to store the majority of my files on one when I had an Air to save space.

Also aside from just the raw physical processing type specs, remember the actual connectivity you get on the machine itself.

As much as I like that the Air is lighter, the lack of Firewire 800 and a DVD-Drive made it no good to me in a work environment.
