hey people got a stupid question:

are the conroe's really good? why? compared to the old intel dual cores?

e.g.

basically, it has a better architecture, in the same way that clock for clock, the athlon 64s are better than the netbursts, due to a more efficient processor. It can do more with less, hence the lower speeds still giving high end levels of power.

They're really nice clockers too, so not only do they do more work clock for clock than the current A64 chips, they also clock better, with good A64s topping out around 3Ghz on water whilst Conroe can hit above 4ghz.
