Probably silly Windows 7 question regarding upgrade CD

Hey,

I bought a new laptop from a manufacturer about 5 weeks ago and with the deal I got a Windows 7 upgrade, I got the CD today.

Am I right in thinking the upgrade CD cannot be installed from scratch? So I'll have to put Vista on then the Win 7 upgrade for it to work?

no you can do a clean install see here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html i have done it and it works ok
