Probably stupid DS noob Question

Hi, might go get me one of these, they seem super popular and i haven't heard a bad word about them yet.

I've had a butchers at a couple of competetor sites and on the Nintendo site and can't find out how the thing is powered.....

Is it batteries or do you charge the puppy up (a la mobile phone)???
