Probe 2 warning about MB temp...

Hi all,

Got a new mobo today (Asus P5Q) and I'm concerned about the temperature of it.

At Idle my temps are:

CPU 31c
MB: 55c

After a couple of maps on MW2....

CPU: 37c
MB: 62c

Probe 2 is issuing warnings for the MB temp and was set to do so at 45c.

Do I need to be worried about this?

The NB is pysically very hot to touch. I'm guessing it's drawing the heat away well, I was considering re-seating it with AS5 but I don't know if that is a good or bad idea tbh.

The mobo is not brand new as I got it 2nd hand, but it's new to me an I don't know much about MB temps in terms of what is acceptable. I was planning to OC my Q660 on this board but it is currently at stock.

Do I need to be concerned?

Also out of curiosity I wondered where th temp sensor is.

I don't know if this is in any way relevant, but I do not have an 8pin power connector so I have put the cover on the left hand 4 and used my 4pin in the right hand ones.

Thanks,

G

That seems way high for the northbridge temp. Whats the airflow like over the heatsinks?

It's ok, but they are quite close to my massive gfx card which probably doesn't help.

They are passive heatsinks as well so I'm tempted to replace if this temp is really too high.

have you overclocked your pc check the voltages in bios p5q do overvolt a bit set the voltages yourself if theyre on auto

Yeah this and get some airflow over the heatsink, even if you replace it your still going to need some air to cool it.

I don't know much about voltages. I've set the CPU voltage to the VID and the ram to 2.10 cause it says that on it.

I've left other voltagers on Auto.

These temps are without overclocking tho.
