Proble, - help

Put my entire comp together today, new build, although i have a problem

it turned out i need a vga to dvi adapter because i cant connect my monitor to the card - fine, i bought one.

i tried to connect to onboard graphics to install windows etc, but still black. monitor just says ''Switching to power saving mode'' and thats it, cant see anything.

is it because the onboard has been disabled since the new card has been reckognised by the mobo ? or is it something else?

inside the comp everything is fine. all stuff in place and connected properly.

should i just wait for the adapter to come ?

everything is properly connected, like i said.

cant remove anything just now, heres the spec

gtx 460
coolermaster gx550W psu
4gb ddr3 ram
amd phenom ii x2 3.2 ghz BE

I dont get why onboard doestn work

I think ill wait for the adapter then, sigh. 4 days to wait for delivery (Ebay) and i thought everything will be ready today...
