Can access the site on my iPhone and laptop, but cant on my desktop. Can't ping the website either.

Anyone have any ideas? Tried disbaling my firewall and AV.

have two browsers
i have IE which i use
and FF

this way i can check on both
but as above

go in msdos and do a flush dns - also delete all cookies and temp files then restart the desktop

The OP states it works on his laptop and not his desktop so I'd say his router is fine.

As someone has already mentioned but you never replied, ping the website address from a command prompt from both machines and check that the IP address that comes back is the same. That's a start at least. If the IP addresses are different and you have flushed DNS, check your windows host file to see if an entry exists in there.

If the IP addresses are the same then try a traceroute and see if both machines are taking the same route. Again mentioned above but you didn't respond.

If they are both taking the same route, try a linux live CD like ubuntu and try the internet from your desktop and see if it works. That will rule out a physical route issue for whatever reason.

Deffo try everything Totality described as they are all excellent suggestions. If you find the returned IP addresses are different, check you are using the same DNS Server on each device (ipconfig /all). I presume you have done a virus check already.

i thought that routers typically allow you to specify the device which can't access a site rather then just block access to the site from everyone? my thought was perhaps they forgot to add the laptop and only banned the desktop or something like that.
