Problem adding DC

I'm trying to add a windows 2003 R2 server as a DC to my exisiting win 2000 SBS domain

dcpromo completes but says that it could not fully replicate and says it will do it after a reboot

It doesn't do the remaining replication after the reboot as you might expect

my event log has error 1203 in it which says that it cannot replicate due to a schema mismatch, it then gives me the object name but it is just a GUID so I cannot find it in ADSI edit to mark it as defunct

The GUID does have DEL: in it, does that mean it is a deleted object that will not go away for some reason, is there anyway to purge it?

Any help appreciated, I've tried everything now!

Did you prep the 2000 domain before adding the 2003 DC to it?

Also... what SP are your 2000 servers on?

yes domain was prepped for 2003, the 2000 box is SP4

its been adprepped sucessfully, its after the dcpromo of the 2003 box that i get the problem

Did you ADPREP both the forest and the domain to 2k3 R2 schema?

Prior to DCPROMO did you run dcdiag's etc to check the state of the domain?

How many DC's do you currently have and what OS, Service pack versions etc?

Did you ADPREP from the R2 CD2?

It is different than the one on CD1.

I got round the problem, I had to restore to an earlier date, something was not right with AD

To answer the questions above, I did it all by the book but it just wasn't playing ball
