problem, all help appreciated!!

Yesterday my pc was working fine, but i booted up this morning and after a few seconds of logging into my account, the screen went all funny. Could it be because I just updated my nvidia 6800 to forceware 175? My OS is Xp professional 32-bit. How can I fix the problem?

there is a link for my monitor state when this problem occurs. All help appreciated, urgently need pc for work purposes!

It might be resolution related and that it's out of range. Restart the PC and keep pressing F8 until you see a few options appear. Select "Enable VGA Mode" and hopefully that should be it.

I don't think so, because when it gets to the welcome screen, I can log in and my account is fine for a few seconds, but thank you very much, I'll give it a try...

... it seems to be ok now, thank you J.D, but now I am stuck at res of 640x480, and it's not the best of res's to be at, and my colour quality is 4-bit, is there any way now to get back to my old res of 1280x1024?

Hmmm, is this after selecting Enable VGA mode?. I had to do this last night for a friend and funnily enough the same thing happened with the 7600GT. All I did was install the plug and play drivers for the monitor again and when I went back into display properties I still couldn't change anything. I closed the display properties page, went into my kitchen to make a drink, came back through and tried the display properties again. I could then change it all back to normal. It was very weird .

well, I have just uninstalled 175 drivers, still can only use 640x480, I tried to dload some drivers from nvidia's site (169.21, my previous drivers) but explorer and firefox both keep crashing

Having uninstalled drivers and restarted XP, the system appears to be fine, I will use the trustworthy 169.21 drivers, thank you very much for your help

Ive had the same problem with both the 175.16's, and the 175.70 drivers, when installed im stuck in 800x600 4bit colour which is unable to be changed, tried allsorts, and looked everywhere for a solution, but no go, so i just use drivers i can install fine, which at the mo is the 175.63's.
