I've had my AOC G2460PQU 24" 144Hz monitor for around 8 months now, and while the visuals and colours are nice, I've started to run into an issue with it.

It makes a low-pitched buzzing sound most of the time, which gets worse when displaying something more demanding, like a game.

The monitor itself is on the desk, free from anything around it, so airflow has always been fine. When I turn it off, the sound goes, turning it back on brings the sound back, so it's definitely something going on inside the monitor.

Has anybody else had any similar issues? I'm certain an RMA is in order :(

Definitely RMA it, I've had a noise like that but when the monitor was off (different monitor though). Only thing that would help it was unplugging. :(

I submitted an RMA request late last night, and have this morning heard back from AOC already!

They're sending out a replacement unit this Friday (2 working days time) via courier.

Please use the box and packaging that the courier brings your replacement screen in to return your defective. The replacement will arrive with the stand and base but no other accessories so please ensure you keep all of yours.

Excellent customer service, so far at least. I'll update the thread once I receive the replacement to let people know how the process was; should anybody consider an AOC monitor for their next purchase.

Update

I've just taken delivery of the replacement unit. It was delivered by DPD.

The new unit doesn't suffer from the same issue, so is sat on my desk nice and quietly; both on low and high load (where the issue previously could be heard the most).

Unsure whether the unit is brand new or refurbished. It looks brand new, while the box it came in looked slightly battered (perhaps in transit) and had been opened up already then re-sealed. Once I unpacked the replacement unit, I packed up the old one in the same box, and handed it back to the courier as a direct swap - he had all the return labels printed ready.

Either way, the issue is sorted, in a very simple and timely manner by AOC.

Update 2

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but unfortunately the same issue has returned on the replacement unit.

I've got an RMA in progress, with a replacement coming next week.
Fingers crossed for one that lasts more than 8-9 months!

Update 3

Not good news I'm afraid. I've just taken delivery of the replacement monitor; and once again, there is the very same issue again.

I've now got another, guaranteed new, monitor coming tomorrow so, with a bit of luck, that one will be ok.

While I can't complain at all on the customer service side of AOC (they have been excellent, with fast turnaround times on replacement units), I can't exactly recommend this monitor based on reliability. I've no idea how others are getting on with it, or with any other AOC monitors; so I'm not going to blast them in general.

Wish me luck for tomorrow's delivery.

I own a G2460PG variant of this monitor so I'm pleased AOC have a good RMA service should I develop any issues. I do hear a very slight whining noise when the unit is turned off and I've managed to narrow it down to the monitor's PSU, could be a fan or just slight coil whine. It's not consistent and doesn't interfere with use so I'm not overly concerned.

It's a great monitor that's served me well for 18 months with the only real issue being poor contrast, but for the price it's a sacrifice worth making. Today it'll be replaced by an Acer Predator XB271HU, providing that doesn't have major IPS glow/BLB issues.
