Problem booting new rig please help

Ok so all of my new parts arrived today so i started to make my pc. A couple of hours later i was done and ready to turn it on. I was asked to setup the BIOS as it was the first time so i did this n set the boot devies to my 1st SATA HDD then my CD/DVD rom drive second. Then when it went to boot my computer a got the error:

"Detect Drives Done, No Any Drives Found"

This was then followed with please select an appropriate boot device or insert bootable media and press any key or something like that. But i had got my drive selected properly in the boot options and i got my windows disc in. Anybody got any ideas?

Thats all my stuff. I think everything is compatible.. This is my first build by msyelf though so it is possible i could have missed or dome something stupid :P

I think it detects them all yes, because when i go to select boot device priority it bring up my first SATA HD in the SATA1 slot and and it then says something ATAPI CDROM. So i think they are all plugged in right.
 
i dont have a floppy (nor a floppy drive), and i think ive tried putting cdrom as first boot n it didnt work, but ill try it again in the morning if i get time b4 work, if not ill try it on the night.
 
I have already siabled the floppy controller, and yes i have tried it set as first device :(

It's weird, if i hit DEL to enter the BIOS setup as its starting up it will say "Detect Drives Done, No Any Drives Found" before it even gets to the BIOS screen. Which makes me think its not to do with the optical drive but i just don't know.

Ill be bak online tonight at 6 after work hopefully somebody got a fix by then :( thanks for all your rpelies so far.
 
sorry im a bit unexperienced in this side of computers. How do i do a CMOS reset? and can i update BIOS without a floppy drive?

Is there anyway i could get this error by misplugging in one drive or forgetting to to plug something in? As si say im a bit unexperienced and its possible i could have done domethign stupidly wrong.

When installing the SATA HDD's i just plugged them straight into SATA 1 and SATA 3 on the mobo (for some reason there was no socket to plug into). Ive never used SATA drives before so im nto sure if this is all that i need to do.
 
si dont have a floppy drive... I could steal the one from my xcurrent computer hwoever. But where do i get the latest CMOS drivers. Sorry im so lost and stressed out all i want is my beast in full working order :P
 
also in reply to people saying do stuff whilst in the install. I cant get to the install thats my problem, it wont recognise anything bootcable, i set it up for my dvd drive and it wont pick it up. Im gona go try another version of windows
 
fixed it!!!

okok heres the embarassing part :rolleyes: i had the wrong IDE cable going from my optical drive to my mobo, i changed it to one from my current PC and its all working fine :d:D:D now i just gota wait while the two drives format :P thanks for all your ideas guys :) thread to follow sono with build pictures etc :)
