Whenever I boot up the PC, the Windows 95 splash screen comes up (yes, yes 95, i know, but hes happy and old) for a second and then goes to

Starting Windows 95...

C:\>

Any ideas what this means?

Windows 95 eh, wow that takes me back. If you boot with the 95 cd in the drive is there a repair option like xp? Thats all I can think of to help you so good luck.

at the C:\> prompt type the following
Code:
edit autoexec.bat

then post up all that it says in there.what you are looking for is the last line of the file should contain the word Win.com as this is what starts windows from a dos session.

also does the screen say anyting else? if not then the config.sys and autoexec.bat files may have been removed or renamed / become corrupt.
