Heres a strange one for you;
Built a friend a PC about 5 months ago, got it working no problems.

Now it's developed an intermittent fault, it sometimes won't start from a cold boot.

What happens is the fans etc spin up but no display or power to USB.
Once the power cable is unplugged for 5mins it works no problems.

The system isn't overclocked at all.

Specs are;

920 i7 D0
Asus P6T Deluxe
OCZ 2000Mhz DDR3
Samsung F1 T1
Be Quiet 850W
BFG 295GTX
Antec 1200

I suspect it could well be the PSU, but how would I go about testing for a fault?

Cheers :)

only real way to test components is to swap like for like from another system and see if the problem goes away.

Might be worth checking the ram timings to see if they match the spd profile given in cpu-z. I've had problems with the auto settings on a mobo being too tight on some settings.

It sounds like a PSU problem but its quite strange to see a Be Quiet PSU do this after 5 months.

I'm thinking it could be the PSU, but is their any method of testing short of replacing this?

I've yet to have a proper look at it, so problems been described to me.
