hi, im going to be running an amd phenom x2 550 BE with a gigabyte ma770t-ud3p. arctic cooling 64 cpu cooler. corsair 4gb 1600mhz ddr3 with one hdd and one optical drive plus a few fans. will a 450w psu be enough or will i need a 500w+ psu?

p.s. the system will be oc'd a little bit.

any help much appreciated

luke:)

corsair vx 450?
just how close to needing a 550 would i be if that makes sense?

If i were you, i would spend the extra £20 and go for a TX 650 instead of a VX 450, it will be safer in the future for upgrades (sli, more HDDs etc) and it will save you money because you might need a bigger PSU ion the future. £20 isnt to much for reassurance

hm i see your point. when i set out to build this thing tho i told myself i wasnt going to let myself get dragged into over speccing it if you get what i mean... chances are i wont want more than two hdd or optical drives. a graffics card maybe we'll see.
surely 550 would be enough to cover all bases?!?
