Been helping a friend build the above computer however there seems to be some problems that I would love your guys help on.

Ok first of build the computer and then hit the power the fans jolt once then nothing. So cut a long story short I swap out the PSU for a spare generic 550W I have and I get life as in the CPU fan and GPU fans spin up and stay alive. I decide to continue the build but I tried connecting either the DVD or the HDD to the power and nothing it wont boot up. WTF

Thanks guys for the replys.

I have ended up swapping out cables as both the original and replacement PSU are modular. I noticed the cables were a mix of both models so swapping them all to one model and it booted right up..

However I have a question about the original power supply Seasonic X-Series 850W "80 Plus Gold" Rated Modular Power Supply

It has 2 sockets labeled M/B (motherboard) and one labeled CPU.. Whats the story with the dual m/b sockets are they both to be used at once or does it depend on Motherboard type ?
