Hi, hope someone can help with a problem I'm having.

I can't get on the internet/web from my laptop using wireless, but it used to work fine before, and it still does from my ipad and for other users. Therefore, it seems there is some kind of settings problem with my laptop.

When I try and open web page it comes up with the cross/globe symbol and says can't display webpage.

In bottom right corner of screen the wireless icon says I'm connected and names the network and says signal strength is excellent.

I've tried rebooting both the router and the laptop.

Can anyone advise what the problem may be, or indicate what further info I may need to provide. Thanks.

Tried a different browser? Try firefox or try updating the anti virus or spyware programs. If they update, then you have a problem with your browser i reckon.

Thanks for response. I tried updating my McAfee but it did not work, it had an error which said unable to find valid repository? What would you suggest given they didn't update OK.

have you checked that your laptop is not set up as a static IP?

If it is and another piece of equipment has been allocated that IP address then your laptop wont work

It used to work fine until recently. I think I may have inadvertently changed some settings. How do I check the static IP.

uninstall mcafee and get a decent av....but on a serious note I reckon it's mcafee causing the problems!

I suspect you are probably right.

You will have to allow your router access to your computer through the antivirus. You have to set up the IP in there
